The cruise port of Sitka, Alaska is a unique Alaskan port. The city is situated on the west side of Baranof Island and was once an outpost of the Russian empire. In 1867, The United States purchased Alaska from Russia and at that time, Sitka was the capital of Alaska (Juneau became the capital of Alaska in 1906).

Where Cruise Ships Dock in Sitka

The Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal (previously called Old Sitka Dock) can accommodate two large ships. Other cruise ships can anchor in Crescent Harbor and tender their passengers to downtown Sitka. The cruise terminal is about six miles north of the center of Sitka.
