Is that on your Bucket List? 🚢 On June 13, 2025 at 00:30 Northern Lights could be seen on the port side of the cruise ship. 🚢 An announcement was made by the Captain that was audible in public areas and guest cabins. 🚢 Since our cabin is on the starboard side of the ship, I went down to the Deck 7 crew area to be able to see them. 🚢 The Deck was packed with about 20 crew members excited to be able to see the Northern Lights, many of them for the first time. 🚢 Have you seen the Northern Lights? Check out this Mini Suite balcony on the Discovery Check out this Mini Suite balcony on the Discovery Princess that is directly on top of the Navigational Bridge wing. 🚢 Reserve Collection Mini Suite M108 and M107 both have a larger balcony than what the Princess Cruises website deck plans show. 🚢 The layout of the cabin and balcony in real life is different than what the website shows. 🚢 On the Princess Cruises website, the deck plan doesn’t indicate that the space that is on top of the bridge wing is included. But, touring the cabin, you can see that it is included! 🚢 The balcony on each of these suites has exclusive access to the top of the Bridge wing. What a perfect spot for scenic cruising in Alaska. 🚢 Both M107 and M108 are Reserve Collection mini suites which means they are entitled to eat in the Reserve Collection dining room. 🚢 Have you been pleasantly surprised or disappointed by the size of a cruise ship cabin based on what you expected? After cruising up Endicott Arm this morning, Discovery Princess arrived in front of Dawes Glacier 🚢 Today there was minimal ice concentration in the water so Discovery Princess was able to get quite close to the glacier. 🚢 Tony waved at me from the Bridge while I was on the balcony, but the sun makes it difficult to get a good photo/video of him. 🚢 This is the problem with having sunny skies when we are at Dawes Glacier. The sun shines directly towards the cruise ship, making it difficult to even see the glacier. 🚢 Am I crazy to prefer it to be cloudy when we are close to the glacier? 🤷‍♀️ #princesscruises #discoveryprincess #cruise #cruiseship #cruiselife #alaska #glacier

The Deer Mountain Trail in Ketchikan, Alaska is a The Deer Mountain Trail in Ketchikan, Alaska is a moderate hike with a stunning view from the first lookout. Allow yourself 3.5 hours to get to the lookout and back to the ship. ➡️ The hike itself from the Deer Mountain trailhead to the first lookout point is 1.6km (1 mile) with an elevation gain of 318 metres (1,043 feet). ➡️ It takes about one hour to hike from the trailhead to the first lookout (that includes stopping for rest breaks, lol). ➡️ The hike back down from the lookout point to the trailhead takes less time (about 45 minutes or less). ➡️ The walk from the cruise ship berth to the trailhead is about a 35 to 45 minutes to walk, depending on which dock your cruise ship is at. ➡️ Allow yourself about 20-30 minutes at the lookout point to take photos and enjoy the view. #hikes #alaska #ketchikan #discoveryprincess #princesscruises #deermountain #views

Backstage with Iditarod sled dog puppies before th Backstage with Iditarod sled dog puppies before the Puppies in the Piazza event on Discovery Princess cruise ship ➡️ In Skagway, Princess Cruises hosts an event called Puppies in the Piazza, on all fleet ships coming to Skagway, Alaska. ➡️ Iditarod champion Ryan Redington brings two of his sled dog puppies onboard for guests to see and take photos with, while he shares his story about Iditarod racing and raising sled dogs. ➡️ Today, Ryan brought two puppies from a new litter. Their names are Eggs and Oatmeal. Each litter he names the puppies based on a theme.This litter’s puppies were named after breakfast items. A few other puppies of the litter, but not present today, are Bacon, Waffles, and Pancake. ➡️ Before the puppies are brought out to meet the guests in the Piazza, cruise staff play with them. Would you hike Mount Roberts Trail in Juneau, inst Would you hike Mount Roberts Trail in Juneau, instead of taking the Goldbelt Tram? ✅ This is NOT an easy hike. In fact, the AllTrails website classifies it as “Hard”, and Alaska.org classifies it as difficult. ✅ Most sources say that it takes about 1.5 hours to get from the trailhead to the Mountain House (top of the Tram). ✅ Also, factor in that it takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes to walk to the trailhead on Basin Road, depending where your cruise ship is docked. ✅ I started from the Mount Roberts Trailhead on Basin Road at 1pm and made it to the Mountain House by 2:20pm. (Plus, I stopped to take photos along the way as well as catch my breath, lol). ✅ The Mount Roberts Trail is a series of switchbacks that lead up through a forest. It’s about 2 miles (3.2 km) with an elevation gain of 1,760 feet (536m) to the top of the tram station. ✅ From the Mountain House and top station of the tram, it’s about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to Father Brown’s Cross (including time to take photos). The elevation at Father Brown’s Cross is 620 m (2,034 feet), which is 3.4 km from the trailhead on Basin Road. That part of the trail is easy. ✅ I would have loved to spend more time on Mount Roberts, but I had to get back down to the ship to go on another walk with Tony. ✅ I took the Goldbelt Tram down, which was $21. I found out later in the day that if I would have spent $20 in the gift shop, I could have rode the tram back down for free with my receipt. #cruise #hikes #mountroberts #juneau #juneaualaska #alaska #excursions

What is a unique item on the menu at McDonalds in What is a unique item on the menu at McDonalds in Ketchikan, Alaska? 🚢 The McDonald’s in Ketchikan is about a 20 minute walk from Berth 4, where Discovery Princess docks. 🌎 I always like to eat at McDonald’s in different cities from around the world when I travel. It’s fun seeing the unique menu items (even if I always order the same thing at McDonald’s - Big Mac with no onions or sauce). 🚢 The McDonald’s in Ketchikan, Alaska has a Denali Big Mac on their menu. It is essentially two quarter pounders on a Big Mac bun. (Note: I did not order this, it’s a Big Mac in the video). 🍔 The Denali Big Mac is dressed the same as a regular Big Mac with lettuce, cheese, onions, and pickles. However, the Denali Mac is 880 calories versus 590 calories for the Big Mac (if calories matter, 😂). 🥤Oh, and don’t forget that McDonald’s has the best Coke, even in Alaska! 😀 🌎 Do you like to eat at McDonald’s in various cities around the world?
