The Gold Creek Flume Trail in Juneau, Alaska is an The Gold Creek Flume Trail in Juneau, Alaska is an easy walk on a tree-lined boardwalk. ➡️ According to the All Trails app, it is about 1.4 miles out and back (but this doesn’t include the 2 miles it takes to get to the trailhead from where the cruise ship is docked). ➡️ The easiest way to get to the trail is to take Basin Road. ➡️ An alternate route is to start from the end of Evergreen Ave and walk to Basin Road (which is the route I took in the video). #cruise #hikes #walks #juneau #juneaualaska #alaska #naturewalks #naturewalk

What to expect from the weather in Ketchikan, Alas What to expect from the weather in Ketchikan, Alaska? ➡️ Although it rained a little bit in the morning, this afternoon it was partly sunny in Ketchikan. ➡️ Ketchikan is nicknamed the rain capital of Alaska and they have a Rain Gauge in downtown Ketchikan to keep track of the yearly rainfall. ➡️ So it’s always appreciated when the sun comes out here. 🚢 All aboard time is 2:30pm today, and there are already many people coming back onboard at 1pm, as seen in this video. #cruise #ketchikan #sunnyday #ketchikanalaska #alaska
Today Discovery Princess experienced 12’ to 15’ waves with 30 kt winds (35 miles/hr) on our sea day north to Alaska. 🚢 It’s interesting to notice the different perspectives of the wave/swell direction. Looking over the bow of the cruise ship is completely different than looking over the port side of the ship. 🚢 The waves don’t look like much when viewing them from Deck 14, but I can assure you they are 12-15 feet in height. 🚢 Strangely enough, you can barely feel the ship move, especially on the lower decks. #discoveryprinces #princesscruises #cruise #waves #wavesonwaves #swell #seaday

What to pack for an Alaska Cruise: If you are cru What to pack for an Alaska Cruise: If you are cruising in Alaska, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions when you are packing for your vacation. Here are a few things to make sure you pack for your Alaska cruise: ✅ Goretex/waterproof rain jacket ✅ A heavy fleece to wear under a rain jacket on cold, wet days or on it’s own when it’s cold and dry. ✅ Hat for rainy weather and possibly a winter hat for extra cold days ✅ Sturdy walking shoes (waterproof hiking shoes or trail running shoes are great options) ✅ Gym clothes for the onboard fitness center ✅ Bathing suit for hot tubs and pools ✅ Shorts in case the weather is warm ✅ Something dressy if you want to dress up on formal night or the “dress to impress” night 🚢Please leave a comment if you have any specific questions about what to pack for your Alaska cruise.

Since we were in Endicott Arm in the morning, we didn’t arrive into Juneau until 12:30pm 🚢 So many guests want to get ashore as soon as the cruise ship comes alongside and will line up in order to get off the ship first. 🚢 Today, I was one of those guests that got off the ship first. I wanted to be able to get a hike in before Tony was done work and then meet him and do another walk and have lunch. 🚢 When do you like to get off the ship on a port day? Today Discovery Princess was able to make it all t Today Discovery Princess was able to make it all the way down Endicott Arm and have amazing views of Dawes Glacier. 🚢 @captain_tony_ruggero spun the cruise ship in front of the glacier so that guests on their balconies on both sides of the ship would have a view of the glacier. 🚢 Thankfully there wasn’t much ice concentration in front of the glacier so the ship was able to get close. This is our first Endicott Arm of the Alaska season. 🚢 The beauty about cruising during the month of May is being able to see all the snow capped mountains. 🚢 Later in the Alaska cruising season, there will only be the glacial snow left on the peaks so right now the peaks are all still very white. 🚢 It was worth it to wake up at 6am to watch the passage through Endicott Arm. Ketchikan has four berths close to the downtown ar Ketchikan has four berths close to the downtown area. 🚢 Today Discovery Princess is in Berth 3, Silver Nova is in front of us in Berth 2, and Carnival Luminosa is in Berth 1, in front of the Silver Nova. 🚢 For most of season, Discovery Princess will be in Berth 4, which is currently behind us. No cruise ships are in Berth 4 today. 🚢 Ward Cove is where Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises dock their cruise ships. What to expect from the laundromats onboard the Di What to expect from the laundromats onboard the Discovery Princess cruise ship: 🚢 When we were onboard Discovery Princess in February, the guest laundromats were free because the ship hadn’t installed the mechanism to put coins or use the medallion technology. 🚢 Today I was doing my first load onboard and noticed that the Medallion technology had been installed. It’s now $3 per wash, $3 per dry (45 minutes), and $1.50 for a box of laundry soap. 🚢 This video was from Deck 14 laundry at the back of the cruise ship. There are laundromats on practically every guest deck. 🚢 Although I am allowed to do my laundry in the Officer’s Laundry, I prefer to use the guest laundromats.
