The cruise port of Hilo is located on the Big Island of Hawaii. The Big Island is home to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the active Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes. Hilo is also known for Wailuku River State Park, featuring Waianuenue (Rainbow Falls).
Hilo’s waterfront town has been destroyed by tsunamis twice and the Pacific Tsunami Museum is a great place to learn about its history.
Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corporation is the world’s largest processor of macadamia nuts. Their headquarters and main processing plant are located south of Hilo in the Puna District. The visitors center is a tourist attraction with its self-guided tour of the processing plant.
