The cruise port of Papeete is located on the island of Tahiti and is the capital city of the French Polynesia. It is an overseas territory of France and it is the largest cruise port in French Polynesia.
The Tahiti-Faa’a International Airport (PPT) is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from the cruise port, but most cruise passengers opt to stay in a hotel prior to embarking for a cruise. Alternatively, many cruise ships visit Papeete for the day or sometimes spend two days there.
Note: The local market (Marche de Papeete) has very limited hours on the weekend. They are only open until 1pm on Saturdays and until 10am on Sundays.
