When do you get off the cruise ship on port days? When do you get off the cruise ship on port days? 🚢 This afternoon Discovery Princess was in Juneau, Alaska. Since we were in Endicott Arm in the morning, we didn’t arrive into Juneau until 12:30pm 🚢 So many guests want to get ashore as soon as the cruise ship comes alongside and will line up in order to get off the ship first. 🚢 Today, I was one of those guests that got off the ship first. I wanted to be able to get a hike in before Tony was done work and then meet him and do another walk and have lunch. 🚢 When do you like to get off the ship on a port day? Today Discovery Princess was able to make it all t Today Discovery Princess was able to make it all the way down Endicott Arm and have amazing views of Dawes Glacier. 🚢 @captain_tony_ruggero spun the cruise ship in front of the glacier so that guests on their balconies on both sides of the ship would have a view of the glacier. 🚢 Thankfully there wasn’t much ice concentration in front of the glacier so the ship was able to get close. This is our first Endicott Arm of the Alaska season. 🚢 The beauty about cruising during the month of May is being able to see all the snow capped mountains. 🚢 Later in the Alaska cruising season, there will only be the glacial snow left on the peaks so right now the peaks are all still very white. 🚢 It was worth it to wake up at 6am to watch the passage through Endicott Arm. It didn’t rain today, which was great. Ketchikan has four berths close to the downtown ar Ketchikan has four berths close to the downtown area. 🚢 Today Discovery Princess is in Berth 3, Silver Nova is in front of us in Berth 2, and Carnival Luminosa is in Berth 1, in front of the Silver Nova. 🚢 For most of season, Discovery Princess will be in Berth 4, which is currently behind us. No cruise ships are in Berth 4 today. 🚢 Ward Cove is where Norwegian Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises dock their cruise ships. What to expect from the laundromats onboard the Di What to expect from the laundromats onboard the Discovery Princess cruise ship: 🚢 When we were onboard Discovery Princess in February, the guest laundromats were free because the ship hadn’t installed the mechanism to put coins or use the medallion technology. 🚢 Today I was doing my first load onboard and noticed that the Medallion technology had been installed. It’s now $3 per wash, $3 per dry (45 minutes), and $1.50 for a box of laundry soap. 🚢 This video was from Deck 14 laundry at the back of the cruise ship. There are laundromats on practically every guest deck. 🚢 Although I am allowed to do my laundry in the Officer’s Laundry, I prefer to use the guest laundromats. Discovery Princess is in Ketchikan, Alaska today, Discovery Princess is in Ketchikan, Alaska today, May 2, 2025: 🚢 This morning Discovery Princess arrived in Ketchikan, Alaska between 7am and 8am. 💨 Check out the wind blowing across the water. Viva La Musica is one of the production shows on D Viva La Musica is one of the production shows on Discovery Princess and one of my favourites. 💃🕺I’ve seen this show numerous times, and yet each time it is different. ➡️ Last night’s show was notably different than when I saw it back in February. Although it is generally the same cast, there have been some changes. ➡️ The one main difference in last night’s show is that there were only two male dancers on stage. As a result, the show was blocked differently. ➡️ Some of the cast has changed as well, whether they have gone home due to compassionate reasons or an injury. A couple of the replacements are familiar since they’ve been on Discovery previously. ✅ The show was still amazing, high energy and so much fun to watch. I doubt that anyone in the audience, who has never seen the show, would have even noticed the differences. 👏👏👏👏👏 #discoveryprincess #princesscruises #princesscruisesentertainment #entertainment #cruise #singers #dancers
Last night’s Welcome Onboard Party was a bit dif Last night’s Welcome Onboard Party was a bit different than a typical Welcome Onboard Party on Discovery Princess. 🚢 There are 3,897 guests onboard Discovery Princess for this four day Alaska cruise from Vancouver to Seattle. 🚢 The guests come from 39 different countries. Here are the top five nationalities: 1. Canada (1,818 guests) 2. USA (1,696 guests) 3. China (143 guests) 4. Mexico (29 guests) 5. Taiwan (26 guests) Note: Typically, USA is the top spot, but this cruise it’s Canada! 🚢 Of the 3,897 guests onboard, 2495 guests are new to Princess Cruises. ➡️ Last night was “Dress to Impress”. There is no Formal Night on this cruise. This morning @captain_tony_ruggero and I joined Di This morning @captain_tony_ruggero and I joined Discovery Princess in Vancouver. 🚢 Normally, I am able to board with Tony early in the morning (prior to the regular embarkation time). 🚢 Unfortunately, there was a different procedure today. Therefore, Tony was able to join at 7:30 am and I joined the ship later, around 10:30, just prior to guest embarkation. 🚢 On the bright side, this delay gave me the opportunity to take some photos and videos of the cruise ship before coming onboard 😀. 🚢 While waiting pier side, Tony waved to me from the Bridge. Note that he’s not in uniform yet as he was still doing his handover with the Captain that he is relieving. #princesscruises #discoveryprincess #cruise #cruiseship #cruiselife
Which port would you rather cruise from for an Ala Which port would you rather cruise from for an Alaska cruise, Vancouver, BC or Seattle, Washington? Tomorrow we join the Discovery Princess in Vancouver, BC. We walked around Canada Place this evening checking out the pier before the cruise ship arrives. Personally, I prefer Vancouver over Seattle, but both of them have their pros and cons. ✅ Vancouver is an easier port for Canadians to be able to cruise from due to cheaper options to get to the port. ✅ Vancouver has a very walkable downtown and it’s super accessible from the cruise ship, literally walk off the ship and you’re downtown! ✅ IMO Vancouver is a cleaner and safer city to walk around than Seattle. ❌ Cruises from Vancouver are generally seven days up to Whittier, there are few options where there is a 7-day round trip from Vancouver. ❌ Cruises from Vancouver may not be as convenient for Americans when it comes to cost since flying to Vancouver may be more expensive than flying to Seattle. 🚢 Discovery Princess will be cruising from Seattle for the summer of 2025 except for this one repositioning cruise starting tomorrow.
